The fourth in our series of videos about Decision Modeling discusses the difference between the book and the standard document published by OMG. Jan Purchase and I developed these while working on a new book – Real-World Decision Modeling with DMN – and this video discusses why we think a book is useful and necessary even with a published standard:
- The standard document is formal, precise and largely aimed at tool vendors
- Business analysts, architects, managers and subject matter experts need to understand the approach too
- We wanted to include best practices, dos and don’ts, from our years of experience
- We felt there was a need for something on decision modeling with the standard, not just on the standard itself
