James and business rules consultant Don Perkins presented practical advice from real world projects on how to effectively identify, document and model the repeatable, operational decisions crucial to success with business rules and predictive analytics. Don recommended in his presentation several books. First he recommended Chapter 5 in James’ book – Decision Management Systems: A Practical Guide to Using Business Rules and Predictive Analytics. For writing rules he recommended the work of Ron Ross especially the material available for free at RuleSpeak.com and his book Business Rule Concepts. Finally, for writing Rule Families at the leaf nodes of the models, he recommended Larry Goldberg and Barbara von Halle’s book The Decision Model: A Business Logic Framework Linking Business and Technology.
